Out of a total of almost 14,000 staff including 167 engineers, 709 officers, and 13,173 supporting staff, the government suggested for providing training to about 1,800 officers and supporting staff. According to the training needs assessment, the training will cover road asset management, road safety, road operation and maintenance, road planning, and administration training. The existing laboratory of the WSD needs to be upgraded, as most of the equipment are out of date and cannot meet modern requirements. The WSD suggested upgrading its laboratory equipment together with a laser profiler to be used to measure the pavement roughness for inspection and data collection purpose. In order to provide training, the training classroom will be renovated and provided with relevant training equipment under the component.
